PCPF Board of Directors

Our board of directors are responsible for the development of the PCPF in 2012 and continue to guide, shape, and support the organization.
Board members who join the PCPF:

  1. Understand that without mental health there is no public health.
  2. Have a passion for improving mental health quality and delivery in this country and elsewhere.
  3. Have “time, talent and treasure ( fundraising ability)” to bring to the board.

Board of Directors:

Dr. Joshua Lowinsky( founding board member)

Dr. Lowinsky received his undergraduate degree from Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio and his medical
degree from the Medical University of Ohio at Toledo. He completed his general psychiatry residency at
the University of Wisconsin in Madison, and his adolescent psychiatry, consultation, and family systems
fellowship at the University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.Dr. Lowinsky was a board examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology for 12 years and served a 2 year term as editorial board member of the Psychiatry Resident in Training Examination(PRITE).


Dr. Lowinsky has received a number of awards including the American Psychiatric Association (APA)
Nancy CA Roeske, M.D. Certificate of Excellence in Medical Student Education, being elected member of
the American College of Psychiatrists, and elected distinguished fellow of the APA. He has been named a
“Top Doc” in Indianapolis, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.


Dr. Lowinsky is particularly interested in the psychiatric education of non-psychiatric professionals and
works with medical students and physician assistant students during month long rotations. The goal in
teaching and mentoring medical professionals overlaps considerably with the mission of the Primary
Care Psychiatry Foundation he cofounded in 2012: “to educate, train, and support primary care
physicians and other professionals (within systems of care) in the early identification, accurate diagnosis,
effective treatment, and appropriate referral of individuals to optimize their mental and physical
health.” Dr. Lowinsky presents at local, regional, and national conferences on a variety of psychiatric
topics.

 

Karen Corby

Karen comes to us from the state of Michigan where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Physiology from Central Michigan University.  She spent eight years working in Cardiac Rehabilitation and eleven years as a pharmaceutical sales representative.  Her familiarity with the healthcare environment, as well as her experience interacting with medical professionals in a multitude of clinical settings, prepared her to serve as a College of Pharmacy & Health Science’s Experiential Education Liaison.   Karen supports both the Physician Assistant and Pharmacy Program through developing and maintaining relationships with current clinical sites/preceptors, pursuing new opportunities for experiential learning and facilitating the legal contracts necessary for student placement.

 

Amy Crawford

Since 1998, Amy has worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry where she has held numerous financial and business support roles. Through these experiences she has developed a strength in financial planning, as well as third party contracting, negotiation, risk management and conflict resolution. In her current position, Director – Office of Alliance Management, she manages global relationships with strategic pharmaceutical alliance partners, driving operational excellence and alignment in order to best serve patient needs.  Prior to joining the Pharmaceutical Industry, Amy held both financial planning and commercial banking positions within other industries. Amy is a graduate of Ball State University, BS Corporate Finance. Amy brings to the PCPF Board a strong business acumen and a passion for mental health education.

 

Teresa Driskell

Teresa Driskell, MSN, FNP-BC is the School-Based Clinic (SBC) Director for Shalom Health Care Center in Indianapolis, IN. Her team includes 26 school-based clinics primarily staffed with NP or PA clinicians who provide care for more than 10,000 underserved students in Marion County.  In 2014, Teresa joined Indiana University School of Nursing Master’s program as an adjunct clinical faculty and was the 2017 recipient of the Daisy Award as graduate faculty. 

Prior to coming to Shalom, Teresa practiced in primary care pediatrics and in the emergency department of a large urban trauma center. Prior to becoming an NP in 1999, she was a dedicated pediatric and adult ICU nurse for five years with a special love for cardiothoracic and trauma surgery patients. Teresa Recived her Bachelor of Nursing degree from Indiana University, and Master’s of Science in nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina.  She has a passion in improving health disparity for underserved children and youth, especially for people of color and marginalized groups such as LGBTQIA kids, and also in standardizing planning/implementation for medical emergencies in school-settings to increase successful outcomes for everyone.   

 

Jennifer Guthrie

Jennifer Guthrie was born and raised in Beech Grove, IN.  She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Xavier University in 1998 with a Bachelors of Natural Sciences, and then went on to graduate Cum Laude with High Honors from Butler University in 2000 with her Bachelors of Science in Physician Assistant Studies.  Jennifer completed her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree in May 2014 from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.   Jennifer has practiced as a PA in family medicine since 2000, and continues to see patients at Family Medical Center in Seymour, IN.  She accepted a full-time faculty position teaching in the PA Program at Butler University in January 2012, and currently serves as the Director of Experiential Education and Assistant Professor for the program.  Jennifer married her high school sweetheart, Joe Guthrie, in 1999 and they have been blessed with two wonderful children, Sydnee age 17 years and Clayton age 15 years. Jennifer and her family currently reside in Columbus, IN.  

 

Dr. Tremaine Presley

Dr. Presley is a licensed mental health professional who specializes in the evaluation and treatment of children, adolescents, and families. She focuses on children and adolescents who experience emotional, behavioral, and learning difficulties and specializes in family therapy.  She also works with young adults who experience issues with relationships and mood.  Her understanding and sensitivity to issues of diversity and its impact on the therapeutic process is a prominent part of her work. Her goal is to offer therapeutic support to a diverse client base regardless of race, age, gender, sex, class, religious/spiritual and/or disability status.  She is pleased to bring this multicultural lense to support the  PCPF.  In her spare time, Dr. Presley enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching television/movies, exercising, listening to music and podcasts, and traveling.

 

Annalissa Kammeyer Smith

Annalissa Kammeyer Smith, DO is a Family Medicine Resident Physician at Franciscan Family Medicine Residency Program in Indianapolis, Indiana.  She completed her undergraduate degree at Purdue University earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology.  She then attended medical school at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine earning her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree in May 2020.   Her work with the PCPF began as a fourth year osteopathic medical student after her Psychiatry rotation with Dr. Joshua Lowinsky where she learned the mission of the PCPF organization and was eager to join as a board member.  She is a firm believer that mental health and psychiatry play a large role in the daily care of patients as a primary care physician.

 

Dr. Emily Young

Emily Young, MD, joined the MU-COM clinical faculty in 2014 as assistant professor of pediatrics. She is director of simulated clinical activities. She has board certification in both internal medicine and pediatrics. Her clinical interest is improving wellness in patients with economic barriers to receiving healthcare. For her efforts, Dr. Young received the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award presented by the Arnold P. Gold foundation. Her academic interests are patient-centered interviewing and development of medical student clinical skills through simulated clinical encounters.Emily Young, MD, joined the MU-COM clinical faculty in 2014 as assistant professor of pediatrics. Carson Parker

Carson Parker is a therapeutic educational consultant in private practice in the greater Indianapolis area.  Carson works with families that have adolescents and young adults that are struggling due to their mental health issues and or learning differences.  She provides assessment, placement services, and case management for families considering therapeutic programs.  She began her career as a social worker focussed on individuals and families affected by
mental health and addiction issues. She moved on to become a clinical liaison withAspen Education Group and then Midwest Regional Manager at American AddictionCenters before opening her IC practice in 2019. Carson is a graduate of Purdue University.
